Zincol-2016
Zincol-2016 is a bio fortified variety of wheat enriched with zinc, specifically released in Pakistan in 2016 by the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) in collaboration with other partners. Developed through advanced breeding techniques, Zincol-2016 was designed to enhance dietary zinc intake, particularly in populations suffering from zinc deficiency. This variety has made a significant contribution to food security and the fight against malnutrition. Zincol-2016 is a short-duration crop with a yield potential of 55–60 mounds per acre, making it a promising choice for farmers aiming for both nutritional and economic benefits.
